About Corner House

Corner House is a charming, cosy 18th-century holiday cottage in Bardsea on the southern edge of the stunning Lake District National Park. Brimming with original features such as an inglenook fireplace and exposed beams, this delightful retreat also features a large, sunny private garden with breathtaking views over Morecambe Bay and is only a few minutes' stroll from the friendly Ship Inn pub. Corner House has two double bedrooms, so it is ideal for escaping with your other half, your kids or friends. Perfect for a romantic getaway, bird watching on Morecambe Bay, or dog walking along the Cumbrian Coastal Path, just 500 metres away, Corner House serves as an ideal base for exploring the Southern Lake District. If you’re into rambling, biking, or climbing, you'll love the cottage. It also offers easy access to Coniston Water, just ten miles away, and there are picturesque walks along ancient bridleways from your doorstep.

The village of Bardsea, where Corner House is situated, offers a welcoming pub within easy walking distance, known for its excellent food and local beers. For golf enthusiasts, one of the most scenic golf courses in Cumbria is nearby. Bardsea has been recognized by Time Out Magazine in 2024 as one of the 20 coolest, prettiest, and quirkiest seaside towns in the UK. Just a short drive away, the bustling market town of Ulverston provides a plethora of amenities, including top-notch restaurants, pubs, an award-winning supermarket with fast EV charging, independent shops, a leisure centre, banks, a post office, and a railway station on the Barrow to Lancaster line. Cumbria has numerous award-winning pubs and an impressive 11 Michelin Star restaurants, including L'Enclume, Heft and Rogan & Co within 15 miles.

Beyond the immediate vicinity, a wealth of visitor attractions awaits within a 25-mile radius. Explore historic houses such as Conishead Priory, Ruskin’s Brantwood, Holker Hall, and the Elizabethan Levens Hall and Gardens. National Trust attractions include Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top and Yew Tree farms, Sizergh Castle, and the fascinating Bluebird and Steam Yacht Gondola on Coniston Water. Accommodation Comprises:

Corner House is a mid-terrace property on a quiet residential street in Bardsea. Accommodation is over two levels.

Downstairs:

  • A lovely sitting room features oak beams and a fireplace with a gas-fired "wood burner" for snuggling down in front of the Smart TV on cold nights. Relax on the sofa or in the window seat, enjoying the peace and comfort of this period cottage. The traditional pine farmhouse dining table seats four.
  • The modern kitchen fits neatly under the stairs. It's fully equipped for self-catering, whether you're a three-course gourmand or find eggs on toast an effort. A dishwasher makes quick work of cleaning up.

Upstairs:

  • The main bedroom features a double bed with a chest of drawers and a wardrobe for storage. The decorative fireplace and window seat are lovely reminders of the cottage's heritage.
  • A small second double room also has a wardrobe.
  • The bathroom has a shower over the bath, WC and handbasin. There is also a washing machine in here for your convenience.

Outside: An enclosed garden is laid to lawn with tended flower beds, and has a patio to sit and enjoy beautiful views of the village church and Morecambe Bay. Free parking is on the street outside and there is secure storage for bicycles.

Additional Information: Bed linen, bath towels, WiFi and utilities are included with the rental of Corner House. One well-behaved dog is welcome. Corner House is a no-smoking property.
